Founded in 2025, MONUMENT is a Copenhagen-based design studio working across boutique hospitality, retail and private residential interiors, alongside styling and bespoke design. Rooted in a Scandinavian sensibility and shaped by an international outlook developed over many years in the creative industry, the studio creates spaces with a strong sense of identity, atmosphere and permanence. Each project is approached as a spatial composition, where architecture, materiality, proportion and tactility come together to form a coherent whole, shaped as much by how a space is experienced, felt and lived in as by its visual expression.
Context is central to the work. Rather than imposing a singular aesthetic, MONUMENT responds to the character, history and particular qualities of a place. The work often unfolds through an ongoing dialogue between past and present, creating subtle tensions between the existing and the new, the familiar and the unexpected.
Bespoke design is integral to the process, from custom furniture and built-in solutions to distinctive architectural elements, allowing each interior to respond precisely to its setting, purpose and character.

Maja Regild is a Copenhagen-based interior designer and stylist with more than twenty years of experience in interiors, interior styling and bespoke design across the creative industry. Her work is rooted in a Scandinavian sensibility, shaped by an international outlook and a strong instinct for materiality, proportion and atmosphere. At Monument, she brings a refined and highly curated approach to spaces, combining architecture, tactile materials, bespoke elements, art and carefully chosen objects. Drawn to the dialogue between old and new, precision and imperfection, her focus is on creating timeless interiors with presence, character and a quiet sense of depth.
Michaela W. Barfod is a trained architect, creative and entrepreneur, born and educated in Vienna before moving to Copenhagen after her studies. Her background spans architecture, interior design, product design, scenography and styling, shaped by a passion for interiors, storytelling and exploring the world. With an international portfolio of projects across Austria, Denmark, France and Italy, she brings an architectural understanding of space together with an intuitive, narrative-driven approach to design.
